Islamic Affairs Minister Holds Meeting to Discuss Ministry's Projects for This Year's Hajj Season 1445 AH
The esteemed Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Latif bin Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh, convened a meeting yesterday in his office in Jeddah to discuss the ministry's work and projects during this year's Hajj season of 1445 AH.
The meeting was attended by the ministry's undersecretaries, the directors of the ministry's branch in the Makkah region, the Secretary-General for Islamic Awareness in Hajj, Umrah, and Ziyarah, along with several officials.
His Excellency the Minister deliberated on the most significant completed projects still in operation, as well as the ongoing efforts to prepare the ministry's facilities and services. This included the services provided at the holy sites' mosques and the central area in Makkah. The importance of offering numerous volunteering opportunities during this Hajj season and monitoring the special projects and mosques serving the guests of the Merciful throughout this year's pilgrimage were emphasized.
The Minister reviewed the progress in the project of cooling and preparing the back courtyard of Namira Mosque at Arafat, updating and developing the air conditioning systems at Mina's Hajj pilgrims' Mosque, the thermal and waterproofing project for the entire roof of the Umm Al-Mu'minin Aisha Mosque (may Allah be pleased with her), and the project for supplying and installing cameras in the ablution yards and outside yards of the mosque, comprising of 51 cameras which have been completed. Also reviewed was the ongoing project of replacing air conditioning units at the Miqat of Al-Juhfah in Rabigh, with the total cost of these projects amounting to 13,439,228 million riyals. He also observed the updated Wi-Fi systems in the holy sites' mosques, enabling pilgrims to benefit from the ministry's modern technical services during Hajj days, asserting the importance of completing these projects before this year's Hajj season.
The Minister also reviewed the activities of the General Secretariat for Islamic Awareness for this Hajj season 1445 AH, with initiatives to develop the infrastructure for the toll-free phone service to handle over 500 calls simultaneously and the increase of available languages in video calls to 30, operational in Miqats, the holy sites, and Makkah. Additionally, 50 electronic screens will be added this year, bringing the total to more than 300 screens distributed across the mosques of the holy sites and the central region, broadcasting translated informative messages in various international languages.
He was also briefed on the text messaging service that will be launched for the guests of the Merciful, carrying educational and guidance messages translated into different international languages. Moreover, the selection of preachers for the Hajj campaigns, who will be chosen to guide the guests of the Merciful and enlighten them on their religious duties, was discussed. Translators proficient in several international languages will be appointed to accompany the preachers and also to work in the toll-free phone service. Minister Al-Sheikh urged officials and workers to double their efforts in all services and tasks provided by the ministry during this Hajj season to ensure guests of the Merciful perform their rituals with ease, tranquility, and in a faithful atmosphere.
