Saudi Minister of Education Calls for Practical Partnerships at KSA-Canada Education Forum
At the KSA-Canada Education Partnership Forum in Riyadh, Saudi Minister of Education Yousef Al-Benyan called for "practical partnerships" between the two countries, expressing a desire for meaningful collaborations rather than more agreements.
He urged attendees to think beyond traditional partnerships and focus on implementing solutions from previous memorandums of understanding (MoUs).
The Canadian Embassy, in collaboration with the Saudi Ministry of Education, organized the event, which brought together leading educational institutions from both countries to discuss potential areas of cooperation.
The education forum in Saudi Arabia will proceed on Tuesday, with topics including joint study programs, research collaborations, curriculum development, faculty and student exchanges, and technical and vocational training partnerships.
Canadian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Jean-Philippe Linteau, expressed his country's eagerness to collaborate with Saudi Arabia in education, stating that over 70 Canadian attendees and 70 Saudi institutions are present, demonstrating a strong desire for collaboration.
Linteau is optimistic about the outcome of the forum, predicting numerous partnerships and successes for the benefit of Saudi students and Canadian education institutions.
The Canadian Embassy's trade division organized an education forum with university leaders from Canada, including the University of Toronto, McMaster University, Western University, and Humber College, among others.
The delegation will tour King Saud University, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, and Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University.
Experts will discuss cooperation in areas such as information technology, tourism, healthcare, clean energy, mining, and agriculture, within the context of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.
The Saudi minister described the forum as the beginning of a "practical partnership" aimed at making a significant impact.
Al-Benyan expressed a desire for increased student and faculty exchanges between Saudi Arabia and Canada.
The Canadian envoy stressed the significance of building people-to-people ties in strengthening partnerships.
He suggested that bringing Canadians to Saudi Arabia to experience the new Saudi Arabia firsthand would lead to more collaboration.
