Dubai's Crown Prince Announces AED100 Billion AI Drive to Double Economy by 2033
Dubai's crown prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al-Maktoum, announced a new artificial intelligence (AI) strategy on Monday to boost the economy and productivity in Dubai.
The Dubai Universal Blueprint for AI aims to add AED100 billion ($27 billion) to the economy and increase productivity by 50 percent as part of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to double the size of the economy by 2033.
The plan includes appointing chief AI officers in government entities, launching an AI and Web3 campus, holding AI weeks at schools, attracting data centers, and offering an AI trade license.
The initial phase of the plan aims to enhance the quality of life and well-being of Dubai residents through the use of AI.
The Crown Prince of Dubai announced plans to enhance the city's artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem by launching dedicated incubators and campuses, and celebrating AI in schools through an AI week.
He also mentioned Dubai's ongoing digital transformation initiative, which was launched in 1999 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum and has achieved numerous milestones, including the recent unveiling of the Dubai Digital Strategy.
The Crown Prince is committed to making Dubai the happiest place in the world and will annually review and update projects under this plan to keep up with advancements in technology.
Sheikh Hamdan of Dubai highlighted the region's achievement of being a leading hub for tech and AI billion-dollar enterprises.
He acknowledged the opportunities and challenges presented by the evolution of AI, emphasizing the need for swift and adaptive action plans for nations and governments to keep up with the rapid changes in technology and AI.
