US to Host Jordan's King Abdullah II Amidst Middle East Ceasefire Negotiations
US President Joe Biden will meet with Jordan's King Abdullah II next week for a private discussion about ongoing ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
The talks, which are being mediated by Egypt, Qatar, and the US, are at a crucial stage in an attempt to release hostages and end the seven-month conflict.
The White House has not yet announced a date for the encounter.
The US has urged Hamas to accept a generous offer for a Gaza deal, but the militant group accused Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu of trying to sabotage the deal with threats of an operation in Rafah.
Jordan's King Abdullah II, who visited the White House in February, warned against an attack on Rafah, predicting a humanitarian catastrophe.
In April, Jordan collaborated with the US and allies to shoot down Iranian drones heading towards Israel, aiming to prevent a wider conflict.
