The trip was announced after a phone call between Blinken, President
Joe Biden, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding ongoing hostage-release talks between the US and Israel.
The discussions focused on halting Israel's offensive in Gaza in exchange for the release of hostages.
Blinken is currently refueling in Ireland before continuing his journey.
The United States, Egypt, and Qatar have been working towards brokering a new truce between Israel and Hamas for several months due to increasing public pressure for a resolution.
President Biden expressed concerns over potential Israeli military action in Rafah, a city in southern Gaza housing over one million Palestinians.
The State Department did not release any immediate details regarding Biden's planned visits to Egypt and Israel.
