Saudi Ministry Issues 37,188 Certificates of Origin in March, Boosting Non-Oil Exports under Vision 2030
In March, the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources issued 37,188 certificates of origin to exporters, representing a 0.5% annual increase.
These certificates confirm the national origin or acquired status of the products.
The ministry aims to support exporters in various sectors as part of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 plan to boost non-oil exports from 16% to 50% of GDP by the end of the decade.
The service is available to industrial establishments, commercial sector entities, individuals, and local artisans.
The text discusses a new document for certificates of origin issued by the Ministry of Industry in Saudi Arabia.
The document comes in four modes: one for Gulf Cooperation Council countries, another for Arab nations, a preferential origin certificate, and a bilingual version for non-preferential countries.
The Ministry began issuing these certificates following a Cabinet decision to transfer the responsibility from the Ministry of Commerce.
The service is also available electronically, allowing businesses to obtain the certification without visiting the ministry.
In February 2023, the Industry and Mineral Resource Ministry issued 118 new industrial licenses, marking a 72% increase from the previous year.
The total investment for these projects was SR1.88 billion ($500 million).
The licenses were distributed among five sectors, with food product production receiving the most permits (23).
