Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in AlUla on Sunday, where they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and address regional and international developments.
They signed an agreement to establish the Saudi-Italian Strategic Partnership Council.
The meeting also focused on political coordination, particularly regarding international trade, energy security, and the Palestinian issue.
The visit marks the growing ties between the two nations, with Saudi Arabia being Italy's second-largest trading partner in the region.
Trade between the two countries amounted to approximately $10.8 billion in 2023, and over 150 Italian companies operate in Saudi Arabia.
The two countries also collaborate in renewable energy, with Italy supporting Saudi Arabia’s carbon neutrality goals.
Meloni’s visit highlights Italy’s recognition of Saudi Arabia's pivotal role in global politics and economic affairs.
