UK Blocks Israeli Government Delegation from Attending London Arms Trade Fair Due to Gaza War
The UK has decided not to invite an Israeli government delegation to the DSEI UK 2025 global defence exhibition due to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
The UK government has announced that no Israeli government delegation will be invited to attend the DSEI UK 2025, a major defence trade show set to take place from 9 to 12 September in London.
This decision comes as a response to Israel's continued military operation in Gaza.
According to a UK government spokesperson, "The Israeli government's decision to further escalate its military operation in Gaza is wrong." The spokesperson also called for an immediate ceasefire, the return of hostages, and increased humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.
Despite this ban on the government delegation, individual Israeli defence firms will still be allowed to exhibit at the event.
Israel's defence ministry has criticized this decision as a 'deliberate and regrettable act of discrimination' and stated that they would not set up a national pavilion.
The conflict in Gaza, which escalated in October 2023, has resulted in significant loss of life and restrictions on aid entering the territory.
The UN has declared famine in certain areas of Gaza, while Israel maintains its operations are necessary to combat Hamas.
UK leaders have been increasingly critical of Israel's conduct in Gaza, including suspending trade deal talks and imposing sanctions on West Bank settlers.
