Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 Fuels Non-Oil Growth Amid Global Political and Sports Developments

Saudi Arabia witnesses robust non-oil growth and stable inflation under Vision 2030. In other news, Algeria's recent election results are under scrutiny, while Croatia deals with post-match violence, and Fujimori's death marks the end of a controversial era.
Saudi Arabia is experiencing a robust non-oil growth of 4.9% year-on-year with stabilized inflation at 1.5% as of mid-2024, all in line with their Vision 2030 program's focus on developing a vibrant society, thriving economy, and ambitious nation. Additionally, the country's council reviewed several key reports, including those from the Public Investment Fund and the social support subsidy system, showcasing progress and stability.

Meanwhile, in Algeria, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and opposition candidates are challenging the results of the recent presidential election due to a significant discrepancy in voter turnout figures. The National Independent Election Authority had fluctuating reports, but the final tally revealed only 5.6 million of the 24 million registered voters participated, with Tebboune securing 94.7% of the vote.

In sports, the Saudi national football team has arrived in Dalian, China, ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifier match against China. Scheduled for Tuesday at the Dalian Suoyuwan Football Stadium, the team was warmly received at Dalian International Airport by embassy representative Jaber Rashid, setting the stage for an important second-round qualifier in the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Shifting gears to Europe, following Croatia's recent 1-0 victory against Poland in a UEFA Nations League match, violent clashes erupted leading to the arrest of dozens of fans in Osijek. The Croatian police reported that Polish fans initiated attacks on Croatian supporters and police, resulting in detentions and ongoing criminal investigations, with additional conflicts reported around the event.

Back in Saudi Arabia, Prince Saud bin Mishaal honored winners at the 6th Crown Prince Camel Festival's final day in Taif. With a prize pool of SR57 million, the event saw 107 elite camels compete in four 6-kilometer races, and accolades were extended to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his continuous support in preserving camel racing, a significant part of Saudi cultural heritage.

Finally, former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori has passed away at the age of 86 after battling cancer. Known for his economic reforms in the 1990s and the capture of the Shining Path leader Abimael Guzman, Fujimori's legacy is also marked by human rights abuses and corruption, which led to his imprisonment, making him a controversial figure even until his death.
