Saudi Arabia Celebrates National Day with Discounts, Tourism Boost, Cultural and Environmental Initiatives, and New Public Policy Master's Program

Saudi Arabia Celebrates National Day with Discounts, Spurs Tourism and Cultural Development, and Launches Public Policy Master's Program.
In celebration of the 94th National Day, the Ministry of Commerce in Saudi Arabia has announced a special 2-week discount period from September 16 to September 30, 2024. Businesses can apply for discount licenses electronically, and consumers can verify discounts by scanning a barcode on the discount license while the ministry ensures compliance through inspection tours.

Moving on to tourism, Saudi Arabia has suspended municipal service fees for issuing licenses to hotels, hotel apartments, and residential resorts. This initiative, part of the Investment Enablers Program, aims to boost the tourism and hospitality sector by creating an attractive investment environment and reducing operating costs.

Speaking of development, the Ministry of Culture has released the 5th edition of "The Cultural Status in Saudi Arabia 2023" report, emphasizing sustainability in the cultural sector. This comprehensive report covers the protection of cultural and natural heritage, economic viability, and the intersection of culture and the environment, addressing climate change and sustainability practices.

In another stride towards sustainability, Minister Abdulrahman Al-Fadli has reiterated Saudi Arabia's commitment to reviving ancient irrigation systems to enhance water security and rural development. By integrating traditional and modern irrigation techniques, these efforts aim to leverage re-emerging springs for agricultural development and afforestation.

Turning to regional diplomacy, on September 4, 2024, the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, welcomed Saudi Minister of State Prince Turki bin Mohammed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz at Bayan Palace. During the meeting, they exchanged greetings and focused on strengthening the Saudi-Kuwait bilateral relations.

Lastly, the KAPSARC School of Public Policy in Riyadh has launched the Kingdom's first master's program in public policy, offering full scholarships to admitted students. Supported by King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the program aims to prepare future leaders with crucial skills in economics, data analytics, energy, climate, and sustainability, meeting the growing demands of the labor market.
