The foreign ministers of several Middle Eastern countries, including Saudi Arabia, have expressed their support for Syria's security, unity, stability, and sovereignty in a joint statement released on Thursday.
The meeting, which took place over the past two days in Riyadh, brought together officials from Jordan, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Iraq, Oman, Kuwait, Lebanon, Egypt, Turkey, and Syria.
Attendees discussed their shared goal of supporting the Syrian government's efforts to rebuild the nation on principles that ensure national security, stability, unity, sovereignty, and equal rights for all citizens.
The ministers welcomed a recent ceasefire in Sweida Governorate, calling it crucial for protecting Syria's integrity and preventing further bloodshed.
They also praised President Assad's commitment to hold accountable those responsible for violating human rights within the region.
Additionally, the group condemned Israel's repeated attacks on Syria, deeming them violations of international law that undermine Syrian sovereignty.
The ministers emphasized the importance of regional security and called upon the international community to support Syria in its reconstruction efforts.
They also urged the United Nations Security Council to fulfill their responsibilities as outlined by Resolution 2766 and the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, focusing on the withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied territories and an end to hostilities against Syria.
