Mothers of Israeli Soldiers Urge End to Gaza War Amid Fading Support
Mothers of active-duty troops and reservists join forces to demand an end to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
HOD HASHARON, Israel - Ayelet-Hashakhar Saidof, a 48-year-old mother of three including a soldier currently serving in the Israeli army, founded the Mothers on the Front movement, which brings together approximately 70,000 mothers of active-duty troops, conscripts, and reservists.
This collective seeks an end to hostilities in Gaza and enforces mandatory military service for all citizens, as required by law.
The demand for universal conscription has become particularly pressing due to exemptions granted to ultra-Orthodox Jews, leading to severe manpower shortages within the Israeli military during its ongoing conflict with Hamas.
