Saudi Arabia and Italy Condemn Israel Over Latest Gaza Displacements
Both countries call for an immediate end to the conflict and demand the release of all hostages.
LONDON: Saudi Arabia and Italy on Thursday expressed their strong disapproval of the displacement of Palestinians in Gaza, as Israel intensified its military campaign against the region.
In a joint statement posted by the Saudi Foreign Ministry on social media platform X, both countries emphasized the need to uphold the principles of non-transfer and non-expulsion of Palestinians.
The statement also called for an immediate end to the war in Gaza and urged for a just, secure, comprehensive, and sustainable peace in the Middle East.
Both nations demanded the release of all hostages held in the conflict and condemned the unilateral actions taking place in the West Bank that undermine the two-state solution.
They also stressed the importance of providing humanitarian assistance and life-saving supplies to the people of Gaza.
Additionally, they called for post-war arrangements that are linked to a time-bound political solution aimed at ending the occupation and achieving a just and comprehensive peace.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister, condemned Israeli attacks in the occupied West Bank during a press conference in Rome, expressing agreement with Italy on the need to halt the conflict in Gaza.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni previously criticized Israel following an attack on a Gaza hospital that resulted in the death of at least 20 people, including five journalists.
The statement by Saudi Arabia and Italy also touched upon discussions about enhancing economic and other bilateral relations between the two countries.
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani praised Saudi authorities for their efforts in encouraging Russia and the United States to align their perspectives on resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
