Airstrikes blamed on Pakistan have killed at least three people and wounded seven others in eastern Afghanistan.
Airstrikes that
Afghanistan’s Taliban government attributes to neighboring Pakistan struck two provinces in the country, resulting in the deaths of at least three individuals, injuries to seven others, and damage to homes.
According to officials and witnesses, these events unfolded late Wednesday in Nangarhar and Khost provinces.
The Afghan Foreign Ministry has denounced these strikes as a "provocative act" by Pakistan and has summoned the Pakistani ambassador in Kabul.
Additionally, the Afghan Defense Ministry condemned the airstrikes on social media, expressing concern that such actions would increase animosity between the two nations.
Neither the Pakistani government nor its military has commented on the alleged strikes.
The situation escalates tensions between Kabul and Islamabad, as
Afghanistan accuses Pakistan of supporting the Pakistani Taliban, a group responsible for several terrorist attacks in Pakistan.
This conflict strains already precarious diplomatic relations, which have been under strain since 2021 when the Afghan Taliban assumed control.
The recent upgrade of diplomatic ties between Pakistan and
Afghanistan in March this year has not significantly eased these tensions.
