Red Cross and Partners Open Field Hospital in Gaza Amid
The International Red Cross and its partners are opening a field hospital in southern Gaza on Tuesday due to the "overwhelming" demand for health services caused by Israel's military operation in Rafah.
Several health clinics have suspended activities, and a major hospital has seen patients and medics flee due to increased bombardments.
The International Committee of the Red Cross stated that people in Gaza are having difficulty accessing necessary medical care due to the high demand and the reduced number of functioning health facilities.
Doctors and nurses have been working non-stop but their capacity has been exceeded.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has opened a new medical facility that can treat approximately 200 people per day.
The facility offers emergency surgical care, mass casualty management, pediatric services, and more.
ICRC stated that medical staff are dealing with severe injuries, potential communicable disease outbreaks, and complications from untreated chronic diseases.
The ICRC will stock medical supplies, while Red Cross societies from 11 countries contribute staff and equipment.
