Over 1.5 million pilgrims descended on the tent city of Mina on Friday, marking the beginning of the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
Pilgrims arrived from approximately 180 countries to observe the Day of Tarwiyah, engaging in prayers and seeking forgiveness and salvation.
The pilgrimage, one of Islam’s five pillars, sees pilgrims following the tradition of Prophet Muhammad by moving from Makkah to Mina and then to Arafat.
In their sermons, religious leaders urged pilgrims to practice piety and obedience to God.
Special arrangements included the participation of over 3,300 guests of King Salman, 2,000 Palestinians, and the first Syrian pilgrims in 12 years.
Saudi authorities ensured the smooth movement and safety of the pilgrims with extensive preparations, despite sweltering heat, advising them to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged sun exposure.
