Mazin Fawaz Baghdadi joined Alinma Investment Co. as chief investment officer in 2017 and was promoted to CEO and managing director in 2020.
During his tenure, he shaped the strategic direction of the company by aligning short- and long-term objectives of the board and collaborating with key personnel.
Baghdadi implemented risk aversion practices, enabling the company to weather challenging market conditions like those caused by the
COVID-19 pandemic.
He focused on staff development and corporate growth, expanding Alinma's revenue channels in terms of size and diversity.
Under his leadership, the company increased its geographical reach, tailored solutions for clients, and significantly grew revenue from capital and money market funds, endowments funds, investment banking, brokerage services, and custody services.
Under the leadership of Baghdadi, Alinma Investment has become one of the top performing asset managers in the market, with assets under management valued at over SR83.5 billion ($22.26 billion), making it the third-largest asset manager in the Middle East.
Alinma was the first investment company in Saudi Arabia to issue an endowment fund and launched the world's largest sovereign sukuk ETF.
Baghdadi has also served as an independent board member at Jabal Omar Development Co. since June 2022, where he is a member of the audit committee.
Alinma has pushed the boundaries of technology to provide a smooth, comprehensive, and fully integrated experience for its clients and was the first to issue an endowment fund and launch a large sovereign sukuk ETF in the region.
Baghdadi had a notable career in the financial sector before joining Alinma.
He previously held top positions like head of investment management at HSBC Saudi Arabia and head of Saudi and GCC equities at Saudi Fransi Capital.
Baghdadi holds a bachelor's degree in finance from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals and has furthered his education through leadership certifications and programs from esteemed institutions such as INSEAD and Harvard Business School.
