Chas Corrigan, 21, pleads not guilty to the stabbing of Mohammed Al-Qasim near Cambridge's main railway station.
A man charged with murdering a Saudi student who was in the UK on a 10-week placement has pled not guilty.
Chas Corrigan, 21, denied murder at the city’s crown court on Monday, claiming self-defense.
The incident occurred on August 1st when Mohammed Al-Qasim, 20, was stabbed near Cambridge’s main railway station and died in the early hours of the following morning.
A trial has been set for February 2nd next year.
Peter Corrigan, 50, admitted assisting an offender and both men have been remanded in custody.
In a tribute to Al-Qasim, his family described him as 'a dutiful son, a loving brother, and the leader of the family in spirit, not in appearance.' The EF International Language Campus, where Al-Qasim was on a placement, expressed deep sadness over his death.
