Malala Yousafzai Condemns Israel, Reaffirms Support for Palestinians Amid Backlash Over Hillary Clinton Collaboration

Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani Nobel laureate, condemned Israel and expressed support for Palestinians in Gaza amid backlash over her partnership with Hillary Clinton on a Broadway musical.
Some in Pakistan criticized Yousafzai for working with Clinton, an outspoken supporter of Israel, on the musical "Suffs" about women's suffrage.

Yousafzai called for an urgent and necessary ceasefire in Gaza to prevent further loss of life and damage to schools and children.

Malala Yusafzai, a Pakistani activist, has condemned the Israeli government for violations of international law and war crimes regarding the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

This statement has been met with strong reactions in Pakistan, where many pro-Palestinian protests have taken place.

A columnist named Mehr Tarar criticized Yusafzai's recent theatre collaboration with Hillary Clinton, who has supported military actions against Hamas and rejected ceasefire demands but also called for protections for Palestinian civilians.

Yusafzai herself has publicly condemned civilian casualties and called for a ceasefire.

The New York Times reported that Malala Yousafzai, a 26-year-old activist, wore a pin supporting a ceasefire at the premiere of the film "Suffs" last Thursday.

However, author and academic Nida Kirmani expressed disappointment on X radio that Yousafzai had partnered with Hillary Clinton.

The conflict between Hamas and Israel began with a Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, resulting in around 1,170 deaths and the abduction of 250 people, with 129 still missing in Gaza.

Clinton served as the US Secretary of State during the Obama administration, which conducted drone strikes against Taliban militants in Pakistan and Afghanistan's borderlands.

Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani activist for girls' education, received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2012 after being shot by the Taliban.

However, her recognition came under scrutiny due to the impact of drone strikes in her home region, which caused civilian casualties.

Yousafzai faces criticism in Pakistan for promoting Western feminist and liberal political views in a conservative country.
