Dutch driver secures third career title, becoming the most successful driver in the history of the official F1 esports series.
Jarno Opmeer has been crowned the 2025 F1 Sim Racing World Champion, marking his third career title and solidifying his position as the most successful driver in the history of the official F1 esports series.
Competing for Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing, Opmeer's championship-winning performance came despite a seventh-place finish in the season finale at the EFG Studio in Stockholm, Sweden.
Opmeer's latest triumph adds to his previous titles from 2020 (with Alfa Romeo Esports) and 2021 (with
Mercedes-AMG Petronas Esports), surpassing Brendon Leigh, who was the first back-to-back champion in 2017 and 2018.
With three titles to his name, Opmeer now stands alone at the top of the sport, setting a new benchmark for excellence in sim racing.
Throughout his career, Opmeer has been known for his ability to remain calm under pressure, a trait that was instrumental to his success this season.
Starting the final race from 14th on the grid, he executed a strategic climb through the field with precision, securing enough points to clinch the championship.
This performance not only reinforces his legacy as one of the most consistent and elite drivers in sim racing but also exemplifies the high level of skill required to succeed in this competitive domain.
This season also marks the second consecutive championship for an Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing driver, following Frederik Rasmussen’s title win in the 2023–24 campaign.
The team's latest achievement further solidifies its dominance in the F1 Sim Racing series and enhances its reputation as a powerhouse in sim racing.
In addition to Opmeer’s individual success, Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing secured the 2025 Teams' Championship, earning a prize pool of $130,000 (DZD 17,419,350 / SAR 487,629.48).
This is the team's third championship title in the F1 Sim Racing series, showcasing its sustained competitiveness and excellence across multiple seasons.
Beyond F1 esports, the team has also made significant strides in other premier racing titles.
For example, Sebastian Job claimed the Porsche Esports Supercup on iRacing in 2020 and 2024, extending the team’s multi-platform success.
As sim racing continues to grow in prestige and professionalism, Opmeer's third title highlights not only his individual mastery but also the rising stature of F1 Sim Racing as a legitimate esports discipline closely aligned with real-world motorsport.
The sport's global ambition is further underscored by its operation by the ESL FACEIT Group, a key player in expanding the global esports footprint of competitive sim racing.
The 2025 season saw a rebranding of the ESL R1 Championship to RENNSPORT R1, marking a clear structural division between the two series and reflecting the sport's maturation process.
As such, Jarno Opmeer’s third title represents not only his personal achievement but also the evolving landscape of F1 Sim Racing as it cements its place among mainstream esports disciplines.
