France to Send Hundreds of Armored Vehicles and Anti-Aircraft Missiles to Ukraine in 2024-2025
France's Defense Minister, Sebastien Lecornu, announced that France will provide Ukraine with "hundreds" of armored personnel carriers and anti-aircraft missiles as part of a new aid package.
The vehicles include older VAB models, which are still operational despite France's phasing out of its VAB fleet.
The delivery is expected to take place in 2024 and early 2025.
The aid is intended to help Ukraine defend against Russian invaders, particularly along an extensive front line, where troop mobility is essential.
France will provide more Aster 30 anti-aircraft missiles for Ukraine's SAMP/T launchers, similar to US-supplied Patriot systems.
France is also developing remotely operated munitions for delivery to Ukraine starting this summer.
The French government is urging defense companies to increase production to meet the needs of its own army and support Ukraine in the ongoing war with Russia.
Ukraine has warned of low munition stocks and urged the US to approve a new $60 billion aid package.
