Egypt's Foreign Minister and IOM Director General Discuss Migration, Climate Change, and Humanitarian Aid
Egypt's Foreign Affairs Minister, Sameh Shoukry, met with Amy Pope, the Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

He highlighted Egypt's challenge with rising migrant inflows due to conflicts, economic reasons, and climate change, leading to a significant increase in immigrants.
Shoukry expressed concern that the international community's support does not match Egypt's burden of accommodating these migrants, especially during a time when the Egyptian economy is struggling due to global crises.
Pope met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Shoukry to discuss cooperation on climate change and migration.
They discussed the importance of the Loss and Damage Fund and ways to support and operationalize it.
The parties also spoke about Egypt's collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Africa.
