Deputy Minister: 77% Reconciliation Rate in Labor Disputes through Saudi Arabia's Wudi Program against Human Trafficking
Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Social Development for Labor, Dr. Abdullah Abuthnain, announced that the ministry's Wudi Program for resolving labor disputes has achieved a reconciliation rate of 77%.
The Wudi Program aims to reduce human trafficking crimes.
Other initiatives include improving contractual relationships, the Contract Documentation Program, and the Wage Protection Program.
Since its launch, over seven million contracts have been concluded through the Contract Documentation Program, and the Wage Protection Program has seen high compliance rates from establishments in paying their workers' wages.
The deputy minister spoke at a dialogue session on human trafficking, organized by the Human Rights Commission.
He emphasized Saudi Arabia's commitment to combating human trafficking, respecting human rights, and preserving individual dignity.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has taken steps to prevent trafficking in the local employment market.
The text discusses the efforts of the ministry to combat human trafficking in Saudi Arabia through the implementation of the National Plan, which focuses on prevention, protection and assistance, judicial prosecution, and international cooperation.
The ministry is also working on enacting labor market legislation and policies to protect workers from trafficking, forced labor, and other labor crimes.
The deputy minister emphasized the importance of continuing collaborations with the Human Rights Commission and relevant authorities to enhance the efficiency of the labor market, safeguard contractual rights, and shield vulnerable groups from human trafficking practices.
Sattam Al-Harbi, undersecretary for oversight and work environment development at the ministry, discussed the ministry's efforts to safeguard workers from crimes and potential human trafficking cases.
He assured that all reports received are handled confidentially and forwarded to the appropriate authorities.
Al-Harbi encouraged everyone to report any suspected human trafficking indicators through the ministry's channels, promising that action will be taken.
