Saudi Citizen and Syrian National Sentenced for Commercial Cover-up: Two and a Half Years in Prison and SR100,000 Fine
A Saudi citizen and a Syrian national were sentenced to a total of 2.5 years in prison and a fine of SR100,000 by the Riyadh Criminal Court for their involvement in a commercial cover-up (tasattur).
The Saudi citizen received a six-month sentence, while the Syrian national was given a two-year term.
The court also ordered the seizure and confiscation of the crime's proceeds, the cancellation of the commercial register and license, and the Syrian national's deportation after serving the jail term and paying the fine.
A Saudi citizen has been banned from commercial activities for five years after allowing a Syrian national to engage in illegal contracting worth SR2 million in Riyadh.
The Saudi citizen facilitated the Syrian's business activities through a firm owned by him.
The verdict includes the imposition of zakat, fees, and taxes on the convict, as well as publishing the verdict in local newspapers at their own expense.
