Videos circulating on social media on Sunday showed a spectacular moment when unusually heavy rain caused a waterfall, accompanied by thunder and hail in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, local media reported.

The Kingdom’s Civil Defence called for people to be “cautious due to the heavy rains in the region of Mecca.”

Rain usually falls in Mecca in small amounts between November and January. The rainfall, as scant as it is, also presents the threat of flooding.
