UNRWA Chief Barred from Gaza: Humanitarian Access Denied, Convoys Attacked, Calls for Probe into Rocket Fire Incident.
The UNRWA chief, Philippe Lazzarini, was denied entry into Gaza by Israeli authorities for the second time since the Israel-Hamas conflict began in October.
Lazzarini had planned to visit UNRWA colleagues in Gaza and had previously visited four times since the war started.
He accused Israeli authorities of denying humanitarian access to the UN.
In the past two weeks, there have been 10 incidents of shooting at convoys, arrests, bullying, stripping UN staff naked, threats with weapons, and long checkpoint delays in the Gaza Strip.
These incidents forced convoys to move during the dark or be abandoned.
Additionally, there was a call for an independent investigation into rocket fire that led to the closure of the Kerem Shalom crossing, which is a key Israel-Gaza aid crossing.
Hamas's armed wing, Ezzedine Al-Qassam Brigades, claimed responsibility for the Sunday rocket launch, stating that militants targeted Israeli troops in the area.
