Ukrainian Drones Strike Russian Infrastructure, Wounding Two in Saratov
Regional governor Georgy Filimonov confirms damage to an electricity substation in Vologda; two wounded in Saratov attack.
MOSCOW: Regional authorities reported attacks by Ukrainian drones on critical infrastructure within Russia, causing disruptions and injuries.
In the Vologda region, located north of Moscow and approximately 1,900 kilometers from Ukraine, an electricity substation was struck overnight.
According to Governor Georgy Filimonov, the impact on electrical supplies has so far been limited, with uninterrupted service maintained in the region known for its relatively low profile concerning military activity compared to front-line areas.Simultaneously, in the city of Saratov, located along the Volga River about 388 miles from Ukraine's border, a residential building was hit by a Ukrainian drone.
This incident resulted in injuries to two people, as confirmed by local governor Roman Busargin.
Saratov has faced multiple strikes since Russia initiated its military campaign in Ukraine over two years ago, marking it as a frequent target of cross-border attacks. The Vologda region, with a lower frequency of such incidents, experienced the rare occurrence of being targeted by Ukrainian drones, underscoring the broader implications of the ongoing conflict on Russian territories far from the front lines.
In total, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported downing 83 drones overnight across various regions bordering Ukraine.
The continuous exchange of hostilities through aerial strikes poses a challenge to both civilian safety and infrastructural integrity in areas not directly engaged in combat.
