Saudi Water Forum 2024: Exploring Solutions for Water Security and Sustainability in Saudi Arabia
The Saudi Water Forum will take place in Riyadh from April 29 to May 1, under the patronage of the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture.
The forum aims to address water security and sustainability, two pressing concerns internationally and in Saudi Arabia due to the region's water scarcity and population growth.
The event will explore solutions to enhance water resource sustainability and showcase local and regional experiences.
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA) is organizing the Saudi Water Forum (SWF) as a significant event at local, regional, and international levels.
The forum aims to bring together industry leaders, experts, and stakeholders, including developers, investors, scientists, and researchers, with relevant official entities such as Saline Water Conversion Corp., National Water Co., Saudi Water Partnership Co., the Saudi Irrigation Organization, Water Transmission and Technologies Co., the Water Regulator, and the National Water Efficiency and Conservation Center.
The SWF will present strategies to address challenges in the water sector and showcase successful water project developments that align with the Kingdom's needs.
Saudi Arabia, one of the driest countries and a top three per capita water consumer globally, announced the Qatrah (Droplet) program at the SWF in 2019 to reduce water consumption by 24% by 2020 and 43% by 2030.
The MEWA aims to lower daily per capita consumption from 263 liters to 200 liters by 2020 and 150 liters by 2030.
Al-Fadley launched the program at the SWF as part of efforts to achieve water sustainability in the Kingdom.
