Electronic Power of Attorney Service Launched for Prisoners
New initiative enables inmates to issue electronic powers of attorney via fingerprint technology.
Riyadh — The Minister of Justice, Dr. Walid Al-Samaani, has directed the launch of an innovative electronic power of attorney service tailored for prisoners.
This service, available through the Najiz platform, utilizes fingerprint recognition to allow inmates to issue digital powers of attorney without requiring physical interaction with a notary public.
The aim is to streamline processes and ensure efficient access to essential electronic services at any time. The General Directorate of Prisons, under the Ministry of Interior, has collaborated in this initiative to broaden the scope of available services.
Beneficiaries can now create individual and multi-party powers of attorney, as well as other features associated with such legal instruments through an entirely digital process. This service operates 24/7, decoupling it from conventional business hours.
Once a prisoner authorizes the power of attorney via fingerprint, the designated agent or agents receive immediate notification.
This system aims to enhance convenience and accessibility for prisoners in managing their legal affairs remotely. The electronic power of attorney service is part of an overarching initiative called the Justice Services System for Prisoners.
It provides comprehensive access to judicial, documentation, and executive services from within prison facilities.
Through a fusion of technical, human, and procedural elements integrated into an electronic system, this service facilitates swift and efficient transactions for inmates.
