Saudi Red Crescent to Implement First Aid Curriculum in Secondary Schools
The Saudi Red Crescent Authority introduces first aid as part of secondary school education.
Riyadh — The Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) has announced plans to integrate first aid training into the curriculum for secondary schools across the country.
This initiative is set to be implemented during the academic year 2025-2026, reflecting a strategic move to equip students with essential life-saving skills and raise awareness about the critical role of first aid in emergency situations.
The SRCA, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the National Curriculum Center, views this inclusion as a significant step towards enhancing national health education and emergency preparedness.
The program aims to foster a culture of safety within communities by embedding these skills into educational frameworks from an early stage.
This move is part of a broader strategy outlined under Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to build a healthier and safer society.
By focusing on young people, the SRCA hopes to instill a sense of social responsibility and preparedness among future generations.
The curriculum will cover fundamental first aid techniques, including CPR and emergency care for both adults and children, targeting various scenarios such as injuries, burns, and medical emergencies.
The optional track curriculum has been designed with an interactive approach that aligns with international best practices, subject to expert review to ensure its quality and relevance.
Upon completion, students are expected not only to understand first aid principles but also to be capable of applying these skills effectively in real-life situations, contributing positively to the development of emergency response services within Saudi Arabia.
Furthermore, the SRCA underscores its commitment to collaborate with key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education and specialized national centers, to continually enhance health education curricula.
This collaborative effort is anticipated to bolster youth preparedness and support Saudi Arabia’s progress towards achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
