Project Masam clears mines in various regions of Yemen to ensure civilian safety and facilitate humanitarian aid.
RIYADH: Saudi Arabia's Project Masam has made significant progress in clearing explosive devices from Yemen.
According to a recent report, the initiative removed 1,243 explosive devices from different areas of Yemen last week.
The total count included 1,182 unexploded ordnances, 57 anti-tank mines, and four anti-personnel mines.
Since its inception in 2018, the project has successfully cleared 501,243 mines.
These explosives posed a significant threat to civilians, including children, women, and the elderly, as they were planted indiscriminately throughout various regions such as Marib, Aden, Jouf, Shabwa, Taiz, Hodeidah, Lahij, Sanaa, Al-Bayda, Al-Dhale, and Saada.
The demining operations are carried out by teams that receive training and modern equipment through the project.
Their primary goal is to clear villages, roads, and schools, thereby ensuring the safe movement of civilians and enabling the delivery of humanitarian aid.
