Saudi Ports Authority: First Container Rail Shipment from Jubail to Riyadh Boosts Logistics Sector and Global Hub Ambitions
The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) successfully transported the first container rail shipment from Jubail Commercial Port to Riyadh Dry Port on Saturday.
This shipment of 78 TEUs is a significant achievement for the transportation and logistics sectors in the Kingdom.
The operation took place on the railway line connecting Jubail Commercial Port with the East Train Network, capable of handling up to 140 TEUs per journey.
This collaborative effort between Mawani, Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA), Saudi Arabian Railways (SAR), and Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) links Riyadh Dry Port with major ports like King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam and King Fahd Industrial Port in Jubail.
A new railway service is being introduced in Saudi Arabia to enhance logistics operations at its ports.
This service is expected to increase efficiency, speed up container movements, and improve loading and unloading capabilities.
The railway is seen as a strategic addition to Saudi Arabia's logistical infrastructure, positioning the Kingdom as a leading global logistics hub connecting three continents.
The new service aims to elevate the quality of services provided at Saudi ports by introducing innovative logistics solutions.
