At the World Economic Forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Health, Fahad Al-Jalajel, discussed the future of global health with Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah and Bill Gates.
Al-Jalajel stressed the importance of proactive measures to address health issues worsened by climate change and the need for global cooperation to manage epidemics and health emergencies.
He highlighted Saudi Arabia's approach to effective collaboration through its ministerial committee for health, which integrates health, justice, and sustainability in policy-making to improve the Kingdom's health status.
Al-Jalajel discussed the progress made in eradicating polio globally, highlighting Saudi Arabia's role in this effort.
He also warned about the urgent issue of antimicrobial resistance, describing it as a "silent epidemic." Attendees were invited to the fourth Global High-Level Ministerial Conference on Antimicrobial Resistance in Saudi Arabia, and a new MOU was announced between the Saudi Ministry of Health and the Bill and
Melinda Gates Foundation.
A partnership has been formed to enhance disease monitoring and diagnostics, ensure safer health solutions, and boost
vaccine production capabilities in the Kingdom.
This collaboration aims to help low- and middle-income countries by increasing access to affordable
vaccines, including those for polio, contributing to global pandemic preparedness and response.
