Saudi Arabia's SAMAI Initiative Exceeds Target in AI Training
1 Million Saudis Trained in Artificial Intelligence via National Initiative
The national One Million Saudis in AI Initiative, commonly referred to as SAMAI, has successfully surpassed its target of training over 1 million Saudi citizens in artificial intelligence skills.
The initiative, launched by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, aims to empower Saudis with AI expertise and advance their readiness for a digital future.
Of those trained, 9 percent are working-age Saudis who have earned AI skills certificates.
SAMAI stands out as one of the largest AI training initiatives globally, offering Arabic-language content that enhances accessibility compared to many international programs.
Its free access and official certification from SDAIA set it apart by providing academic and market value.
The initiative aligns with Saudi Vision 2030's goals, which emphasize technology and innovation for sustainable development and a knowledge-based economy.
SAMAI attracted over 1.2 million participants within less than a year, exceeding its three-year target at an unprecedented pace globally.
This rapid adoption reflects the program's effectiveness in building national human capacities to meet Vision 2030 objectives.
SAMAI is recognized as a model initiative both locally and regionally, offering AI training designed according to global best practices.
The curriculum covers AI technologies' origins through to their applications in daily life, including workplace impacts and future potential developments.
SAMAI uses simple language with visual explanations appealing to students, employees, job seekers, and technology enthusiasts.
Its remote format and flexible scheduling facilitated nationwide participation.
Through SAMAI, participants gain knowledge of AI concepts, applications, and tools, enabling them to integrate AI safely into their work and life.
This initiative supports the development of Saudi Arabia's human capital aimed at becoming a global leader in technology and innovation.
