Saudi Arabia's RDIA Announces SR312M for Research Labs, Launches Open Access Portal
The Research Development and Innovation Authority (RDIA) has announced a SR312 million financial package to support research laboratories in the Kingdom.
The funds will be used to establish research centers and laboratories, aligning with the national research priorities set by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.
Key figures in attendance at the launching ceremony included Eng.
Abdullah Alswaha (Minister of Communications and Information Technology and RDIA Board of Directors Chairman), Yousef Al-Benyan (Minister of Education), and Dr. Mohammed bin Oweid Al-Otaibi (RDIA General Supervisor).
A new national open access portal, Openaccess.rdia.gov.sa, was launched at an event to simplify access to research facilities in Saudi Arabia.
The portal aims to boost innovation, collaboration, and funding for entities in various scientific fields, including universities, labs, hospitals, and private organizations.
Thirty entities were selected to receive funding, with 41% focusing on human health, 27% on environmental sustainability and basic needs, 19% on energy and industry, and 13% on future economics.
