Saudi Arabia's Customs Authorities Seize Over 1,400 Illicit Items in Ongoing Anti-Smuggling Campaign
The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) Steps Up Security Measures to Protect Society and National Economy
Riyadh — Saudi Arabia's customs authorities have intensified their efforts against smuggling, resulting in the confiscation of a total of 1,464 illicit items across the Kingdom’s land, sea, and air ports.
This move aims to combat illicit substances and protect public safety.The seizures encompassed a wide range of contraband, including 119 types of drugs such as hashish, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, Captagon pills, among others.
In addition, customs officials intercepted 664 prohibited items along with 2,531 tobacco products and derivatives.Other confiscated goods included 86 variants of counterfeit currency and 12 types of weapons and their accessories.
This comprehensive crackdown is part of the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority’s (ZATCA) commitment to maintaining stringent security measures over the Kingdom's imports and exports.
The ZATCA reaffirmed its dedication to safeguarding society in collaboration with other relevant agencies.To further support these efforts, ZATCA has called upon the public to assist in combating smuggling by reporting any violations.
This collective approach is deemed essential for protecting both society and the national economy.
