Saudi Arabia Hosts ALECSO Meetings: Strengthening Ties in Education, Culture, and Science with 22 Arab Countries
Saudi Arabia is hosting the Executive Council meeting and General Conference of the Arab Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) from May 14-17 in Jeddah.
The meetings involve 22 Arab countries and aim to strengthen relationships and promote education, culture, and science.
The Minister of Culture, Prince Badr Bin Farhan, has given the directive for the event.
The Executive Council session will take place on May 14 and 15, and the General Conference on May 17.
Over 145 countries and Arab organizations will participate in the meetings.
The National Committee for Education and Culture in Saudi Arabia is hosting the ALECSO meetings.
This comes after a significant increase in the involvement of Saudi national institutions in supporting ALECSO's work, with over 45 Saudi initiatives.
This shows Saudi Arabia's commitment to collaborating with international organizations and their regional environment.
Notable Saudi initiatives include the "Talented Arabs" program, faculty development program, a conference on the future of education, culture, and science organizations, and the ALECSO Forum for Business and Partnerships, held in Tunisia in January 2024.
Saudi Arabia has joined the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) and signed an agreement to establish the Arab Observatory for Translation in Riyadh.
This is the first regional body of its kind in the Gulf region and in Saudi Arabia under the ALECSO umbrella.
The announcement will be made during upcoming meetings in Jeddah this month.
The General Conference meeting, which ministers attend to review the outcomes of the Arabic Language Conference and international organizations, is an important cultural event in the Arab world.
