Saudi Arabia: A 30.7% Decrease in Work-Related Injuries and a 71.27% Compliance Rate with OSH Standards
Saudi Arabia has experienced a significant decrease in work-related injuries, dropping from 416 to 288 per 100,000 workers, representing a 30.7 percent reduction.
Simultaneously, the compliance rate with occupational safety and health standards has increased to 71.27 percent.
These improvements were emphasized by Saudi Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Ahmed Al-Rajhi, at the sixth Saudi Global Conference for Occupational Safety and Health in Riyadh.
The conference, which runs until May 7, focuses on five main topics: sustainability, corporate safety, technological transformation, cultural awareness, and occupational health.
Al-Rajhi, the chairman of Saudi Arabia's National Council for Occupational Safety and Health, celebrated the country's recent advancements in the occupational safety and health (OSH) sector.
He credited these achievements to collaborative programs and initiatives aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to create a thriving society and a diverse, sustainable economy.
The national OSH policy focuses on strengthening and developing the sector, protecting workers across various workplaces, adhering to local regulations and international agreements, and implementing global best practices suitable for the labor market.
The Minister unveiled the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health's official website, showcasing its e-training platform for Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and reporting system for work-related accidents, injuries, and diseases.
The Minister commended the council's efforts and the collaboration among various sectors.
The OSH sector's progress was attributed to recent legislation, such as the enactment of administrative regulations and the development of a national policy with the International Labor Organization and stakeholders.
The text describes how a policy endorsed by the Council of Ministers was inaugurated at a conference by Al-Rajhi.
The policy aims for its integrity and reliability through monitoring and implementation follow-up, according to the SPA.
Al-Rajhi also toured various pavilions at the accompanying exhibition, including those of the General Organization for Social Insurance and Saudi Aramco.
