Qatar Sends Vital Medical Supplies to Support Syrian Hospitals
Qatari organizations deliver 12 tons of advanced medical equipment to enhance healthcare capacity in Syria.
Qatar has sent a significant shipment of advanced medical equipment to support hospitals in the Syrian Arab Republic, aiming to bolster the healthcare infrastructure as the country recovers from over a decade of civil war.
The 12-ton aid was transported on an air force plane this week and includes ventilators, portable incubators for newborns, dialysis machines, anesthesia and imaging equipment, cardiac and oxygen monitoring systems, along with advanced radiology and laboratory analysis devices.
The shipment is part of Doha's Syria Abshiri humanitarian initiative aimed at enhancing the capacity of Syrian hospitals.
According to Syrian Health Minister Musab Al-Ali, this latest aid forms part of an agreement with Qatari authorities to deliver medical equipment via both land and air routes.
So far, 90 tons of Qatari aid have been delivered, targeting approximately 50 hospitals across the country, as reported by SANA news agency.
Yousef bin Ali Al-Khater, head of the Qatari Red Crescent, emphasized that the Syria Abshiri initiative reflects the strong ties between the two nations and is part of a broader effort to rehabilitate Syria's healthcare sector.
Dr. Hazem Baqleh, President of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, highlighted this shipment as signaling ongoing support efforts from Qatar.
Dr. Wael Daghmash, the director of health in Damascus, described it as representing 'a new hope' for both patients and medical staff.
The donation underscores Qatar's commitment to providing essential assistance to Syria during its post-conflict recovery phase.
