Prince Faisal Calls for OIC Reform: Saudi Arabia's Position on Palestine, Yemen, Syria, and Sudan at the Islamic Summit Conference

Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal Bin Farhan, called for reforms in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) during the 15th Islamic Summit Conference in Banjul, Gambia.
Representing King Salman, Prince Faisal expressed regret over the international community's inability to stop Israeli attacks on Palestinians and reiterated the OIC's long-standing commitment to the Palestinian cause.

The OIC has historically advocated for the Palestinian people and worked towards ending their injustice.

Prince Faisal of Saudi Arabia urged for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.

He emphasized the importance of safe humanitarian corridors and the fulfillment of Palestinians' rights, including self-determination and an independent state.

Prince Faisal expressed disappointment in the Security Council and international community's inability to stop Israeli attacks, which have resulted in the destruction of hospitals, schools, shelters, and infrastructure in Gaza, leaving thousands of civilians, including children, women, and the elderly, as victims.

Saudi Arabia has been actively working with other nations to protect civilians and provide relief in Palestine.

Prince Faisal of Saudi Arabia spoke about the country's efforts during its previous presidency of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to strengthen Islamic cooperation, unite positions, and respond to common threats such as desecration of Islamic symbols, hate speech, and Islamophobia.

He also highlighted Saudi Arabia's stance against provocative acts towards Islamic symbols and its continued efforts to unite Muslims and strengthen the OIC's role in conflict resolution and security.

Regarding specific conflicts, Prince Faisal emphasized the importance of supporting peace efforts for a comprehensive political solution in Yemen to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people and support their economic and developmental aspirations.

He also stressed the importance of Syria's stability, unity, and security, and efforts to combat terrorism, armed militias, and drug smuggling to create a safe environment for Syrian refugees' return.

Both emphasized the importance of preserving unity, sovereignty, and state institutions in their respective countries.

The Sudanese minister also supported Libya's efforts to elect a legitimate government, ensure security, and combat terrorism.

Prince Faisal reiterated Saudi Arabia's support for Somalia's sovereignty and territorial integrity and expressed hope that the UN's decision to lift the arms embargo would bring peace and stability to the country.

The minister emphasized the importance of restructuring and reforming the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to effectively address regional and international challenges.

He advocated for swift action and strong political commitment to transform the organization into a prominent intergovernmental body, ranking second only to the United Nations.
