The Government of Panama , through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, called for dialogue and called for the "immediate" cessation of violence between Israel and Gaza.

"The Republic of Panama joins the voices of concern from the international community about the increasing acts of violence that continue in Jerusalem and related areas. We deeply regret the high number of injuries and deaths registered in recent days ," said the Government of Panama in a statement.

The Panamanian Foreign Ministry "strongly" condemned the launch of missiles from Gaza at Israel, but on the other hand indicated that Israel's right to protect its civilians must be proportional and with maximum restraint in the use of force.

"All efforts must be directed towards avoiding the loss of life of the civilian population and decisively supporting the mitigation of the progressive deterioration of the situation through the immediate cessation of violence," the Panamanian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Panama said that it supports the search for a direct dialogue, which favors a negotiated solution, in light of international law, that allows tension to be lowered.

Since the wave of violence broke out, Palestinian militias have launched more than a thousand missiles, hitting Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, and Israel has carried out more than 500 bombings against the enclave.

The wave of violence stems from the weekend riots at the Esplanade of the Mosques, Islam's third holiest site, in East Jerusalem, annexed by Israel in 1967.
