The director of the metropolitan area of Health of Panama, Israel Cedeño reported that after the increase in cases of COVID-19 in sectors in the townships of Juan Díaz, Tocumen and Don Bosco they are following up to confine them and mitigate more infections.
Cedeño highlighted that this is one of the measures that the Ministry of Health (
Minsa) is taking, to avoid the total closure of the country and greater effects on the economy.
There are sectors in Juan Díaz, Tocumen and Don Bosco that are already under monitoring. I have three houses where there are confirmed cases, well there we established a microcenter and we are monitoring it to achieve control, he said
Cedeño.
Regarding this experience, the director indicated that this measure has already been taken in Panama by containing the Koskuna area since April and for several weeks, as it presents a high rate of infections.
The doctor added that in the metropolitan area by having extensive townships, the greater thickness of the population and the greater number of cases, it is sometimes difficult to contain contagions, that is why they ask the population to be aware of the danger that It implies the
coronavirus for the health of Panamanians, especially for those who have risks due to their age and comorbidities.
In addition Cedeno said there are shops of sale of food are only abusing and selling liquor, which is not allowed.
The director assured that this weekend four locals were sanctioned for incurring in this type of situation and violating the curfew.
