Justice Ministry approves rules for avoiding former judges’ conflicts of interest
Justice Minister Walid Al-Samaani has approved rules for avoiding conflicts of interest of former judges practicing law.
“The rules aim to safeguard the integrity of the justice system,” said the Ministry of Justice (MoJ).
“Developed in coordination with the National Anti-corruption Commission and the Saudi Bar Association, the rules apply to former judges and the like.”
According to the rules, former judges must ensure the absence of conflicts of interest before agreeing to do any legal practice work.
The rules also state that violations, including professional misconduct, are governed by the provisions of the Code of Law Practice, without prejudice to potential civil and criminal responsibility.
