Jordanian Minister and British Delegation Discuss Jahez Project: Collaboration on Meteorological Data, Climate Finance, and Climate Change Adaptation
Jordanian Transport Minister Wesam Altahtamouni met with a delegation from the British Embassy and the British Meteorological Office on Monday.
The purpose of the meeting was to advance the Jahez project, an initiative by the UK Foreign Ministry to supply meteorological data and early warnings to communities hosting refugees in Jordan.
The project, which will last three to five years, aims to create proactive plans, improve monitoring and forecasting systems, and implement measures to reduce the impact of climate change.
Jordan is collaborating with the British Meteorological Office (BMO) and several of its ministries and municipalities on a project called Jahez.
The goal of Jahez is to improve weather forecasting and climate change adaptation in Jordan, particularly in areas hosting refugees.
The BMO will provide technical assistance, utilizing their expertise in proactive weather forecasting and climate change adaptation.
The project also includes securing climate finance for countries with refugee populations.
