Israeli Airstrike Kills Four in Southern Lebanon, Hezbollah Retaliates with Rockets

On Sunday, an Israeli airstrike in the southern Lebanese border village of Mays Al-Jabal killed four members of a family: Fadi Hounaikah, Maya Ali Ammar, and their sons Mohammed, 21, and Ahmad, 12.
The family had returned to their property to assess damage and move goods from their supermarket during a de-escalation of hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel.

In response, Hezbollah fired Katyusha rockets at the northern Israeli town of Kiryat Shmona.

The victims were identified while damaged buildings were being inspected by two men on a motorcycle in Mays Al-Jabal.

Cross-border tensions continued as fighting between Israel and Palestinian Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip persisted.

An Israeli military drone attacked and killed a Palestinian family in a supermarket in a border area, according to a security source speaking to Arab News.

The source explained that the area had been empty for seven months due to residents fleeing, and that funerals for victims were coordinated with the Lebanese Army and UNIFIL to avoid Israeli attacks.

The source described the incident as a "terrible massacre." Hezbollah retaliated for an incident by firing over 60 Katyusha and Falaq missiles into Israel, targeting Upper Galilee region settlements.

The Israeli Upper Galilee Regional Council reported buildings hit in Kiryat Shmona, with some rockets causing a power outage.

Hezbollah's attack followed Israeli airstrikes on the villages of Al-Adissa, Kafr Kila, and Aitaroun.

Maronite Patriarch Bechara Al-Rahi called for an end to the violence, urging a halt to the destruction of homes, shops, land, and livelihoods in southern Lebanon.

Mohammed Raad, the leader of Hezbollah's parliamentary bloc, criticized the West for supporting Israel and accused them of being hypocrites for claiming to uphold human rights while providing Israel with financial aid, weapons, and other military support.

Raad expressed that Israel faces no international deterrent and that Hezbollah is prepared to confront Israel directly and sacrifice to protect their homeland, independence, and honor.
