Israeli Air Strike in Syria Kills 36, Targets Hezbollah Depots in Aleppo
An Israeli air strike in Syria's Aleppo province killed at least 36 Syrian soldiers and civilians, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).
The attack targeted areas near rocket depots believed to belong to Lebanese group Hezbollah, according to SOHR and Syrian state news agency SANA.
The Syrian military source confirmed the strike, adding that civilians and military personnel were among the casualties.
The SOHR reported that the Hezbollah missile depots targeted in the strikes were located in Aleppo's southern suburb of Jibreen near the Aleppo International Airport.
On Friday, explosions were reported in Syria following Israeli strikes on Iran-linked targets, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The strikes occurred near Damascus and wounded two civilians, as per Syrian state media.
Hezbollah, a Lebanese militant group with an armed presence in Syria, has been a frequent target of these Israeli attacks.
Previously, Aleppo, Syria's largest city, had been affected by such strikes, leading to the closure of its international airport.
The latest strikes did not impact the airport.
The escalating attacks come amidst ongoing conflicts in Gaza and clashes between Hezbollah and Israeli forces on the Lebanon-Israel border.
Israeli officials have yet to make a statement regarding the strikes.
