Israel Army Strikes Hezbollah Site in Southern Lebanon
The Israeli army has carried out a strike on a site run by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, citing violations of understandings between Israel and Lebanon.
The Israeli army stated that it conducted a military operation targeting infrastructure belonging to the group Hezbollah in the region of Beaufort Ridge in southern Lebanon.
According to the military's announcement, this particular site had been identified as harboring military activities which contravened the established agreements between Israel and Lebanon.
The strike comes amidst ongoing tensions between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah, a militant group that has been engaged in a series of hostilities for over a year, culminating in open conflict last year.
Despite a November ceasefire aimed at ending this violence, Israel has maintained its strikes against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon and has indicated an intention to continue these operations until the complete disarmament of the group.
Under pressure from the United States, Lebanese authorities have directed the Lebanese army to draft a plan for disarming Hezbollah by the end of the year; however, Hezbollah has vowed to resist such efforts.
