Hezbollah Attacks Northern Israel with Drones and Missiles: Two Soldiers Killed, Cross-Border Violence Continues
Hezbollah, a Lebanese militant group backed by Iran, claimed responsibility for attacking northern Israel with drones and guided missiles on Tuesday.
The attacks came a day after Hezbollah killed two Israeli soldiers, and followed a series of cross-border clashes between the two sides since October 7, when Palestinian militants in Gaza launched unprecedented attacks on Israel.
Hezbollah has increased its attacks, which it says are in support of Gazans and its ally Hamas, while Israel's military has retaliated with strikes deeper into Lebanese territory.
The latest attacks targeted Israeli soldiers and officers, as well as an Iron Dome air defense system platform.
On Tuesday, Israel's army reported that two soldiers were killed on Monday in the northern part of the country.
Hezbollah had claimed responsibility for a drone attack on Israeli troops in the same area, with the Israeli military confirming the identification of a drone crossing from Lebanon.
The violence, which has been ongoing for nearly seven months, has resulted in the deaths of at least 390 people in Lebanon, mostly militants but also over 70 civilians, according to AFP. Israel has reported the deaths of 13 soldiers and nine civilians on its side of the border.
The conflict has displaced tens of thousands of people on both sides.
