Gulf-Egypt Trade and Investment Forum Opens in Cairo
Event aims to enhance economic cooperation between Egypt and the GCC states.
The Gulf-Egypt Trade and Investment Forum 2025 commenced on November 10th in Cairo, with a focus on 'Roadmap towards enhancing Egyptian-Gulf economic cooperation.' Attendees included Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Saudi Minister of Commerce Majid Al-Qasabi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Jassem Al-Budaiwi, and various ministers and officials from GCC states and Egypt.
Al-Qasabi stated that today's global economic challenges necessitate unified efforts to create an integrated economic roadmap, focusing on sectors such as energy, tourism, technology, and creative industries.
He highlighted the significance of Gulf-Egyptian integration for boosting regional investment influence.
Al-Qasabi emphasized the strong Saudi-Egyptian partnership, noting the alignment between the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and Egypt's Vision 2030 for comprehensive development.
According to Al-Qasabi, trade volume between the Kingdom and Egypt has seen significant growth; in 2024, it exceeded $16 billion with a 28% increase compared to the previous year, totaling approximately $72 billion over five years.
He also pointed out that around 10,198 Egyptian companies operate in Saudi Arabia, mainly within construction and building sectors, indicating shared economic interests.
The forum, organized by Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the GCC Secretariat-General and Egypt's Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, aims to boost trade and investments between Egypt and GCC states over two days.
Sessions address topics such as real-estate development, tourism, renewable energy, food security, and finance.
