French Classical Ensemble's Children's Concert: A Musical Journey in Alkhobar
The Concert Impromptu, a classical ensemble of French musicians, performed in Alkhobar on Saturday as the final stop of their children's tour.
The concert took place at the new Saudi Music Hub and featured musicians Yves Charpentier (flute), Violaine Dufes (oboe), Jean Christophe Murer (clarinet), Emilien Drouin (French horn), and Vincent Legoupil (bassoon).
The group began with compositions by Mozart, who started composing as a child, and continued with other classical pieces that they joked might be familiar to the audience as ringtones.
A music concert took place in Alkhobar, Saudi Arabia, attracting many parents and their young children.
Abul Fahimuddin, a new resident from Norway, was among the attendees with his wife and two daughters.
Excited about the event and curious about their new community, they signed up as soon as they heard about it.
Fahimuddin shared that they had recently moved to Aramco Camp in Dhahran.
His daughters, Kaja (11) and an unnamed younger one, were eagerly anticipating the concert and looking forward to seeing the various instruments and the theater.
Kaja, who had previously taken piano lessons, expressed her disappointment over having to stop due to the pandemic.
Stella, an 8-year-old girl who enjoys singing, was excited to attend a concert at her school where they started playing the xylophone.
The Fahimuddin family attended the concert to connect with other new families in the area and be part of the growing creative community.
Music was seen as a universal language that brings people together, regardless of language.
Musicians interacted with the audience, answering questions and explaining instruments.
During the musical performance, the musicians played together while also having solo parts.
Towards the end, Dufes took the lead and instructed the audience to make specific sounds like snapping fingers and clapping, while her fellow musicians played along.
At the end of the event, Dufes addressed the crowd, saying "Now you are all musicians," to which the audience laughed.
The event was organized by Alliances Francaises, the French Embassy in Saudi Arabia, and other French organizations.
